Support Elizabethfontein School in South Africa

The Goostrey Rose Festival committee has supported visits from Elizabethfontein Primary School in South Africa since it’s twinning with Goostrey Community Primary School in 2004. This on-going relationship with the school is so very important as many villagers love to watch the children dance as the main attraction on Rose Day when they visit every 3 years. In turn the children who take part, together with pupils back at the school, are inspired by the trip to Goostrey to achieve their goal in life.

The South African children were due to visit last year in 2020 but had to cancel due to the pandemic. The school however did make a huge contribution to the celebrations for Rose Day @ Home and sent over a video about their relationship with Goostrey and it’s school and the Rose Festival. The audio from this video was a main feature of the coverage of the event on Dane Sound Radio. Elizabethfontein School even held their own Rose Day and also entered the Rose Day @ Home competitions from afar.

We can help the children from Elizabethfontein this year by donating to provide necessities like soap, blankets, school bags and uniforms. It will also help supply food parcels for families of pupils who live in remote farming areas.
